Clitterhouse Playing Fields

London | 2020-2024

Gustafson Porter + Bowman led the concept design and planning submission of the 18 ha playing fields as part of Argent Related and Barnet Council’s development of Brent Cross Town. The reimagined playing fields will be home to a wide variety of new sport and play facilities, a new network of walking and cycle paths, places for picnics and gatherings, as well as plenty of space to enjoy nature. It will be a place that everyone can enjoy, regardless of age, gender, or ability and opportunities for play will be integrated throughout the routes around the playing fields to encourage enjoyment of the space. Central to the park’s design is a place to participate in a diverse mix of sport and play, so the playing fields will provide the best of both traditional and emerging sports. The design also includes a park pavilion with a café which will serve as a meeting point for the community to socialise. The new pavilion will be a central feature, visible from all entrances and will include changing rooms to support the new play and sports facilities.

All successful places are built around the things that make them
unique, authentic and valued by their communities; and Brent
Cross Town will be no different. Clitterhouse Playing Fields is the
green heart of our masterplan and will be designed to bring people
together to enjoy its open space, provide a range of active and
peaceful experiences, and realise its potential as an important
contributor to biodiversity. We look forward to supporting GP+B in
working with the local communities to transform this space for the
benefit of all.
